RAHELAH FILSOOFI AND LINDA BEHAR

''"A COLLABORATIVE PROJECT TO SEND A MESSAGE OF PEACE"''

Rahelah Filsoofi, a Muslim woman from Iran, and Linda Behar, a Jewish woman from Venezuela, whose family was originally from Morocco and Rumania and is now in Israel, met as MFA students at FAU, where they are still students, and became friends.

They work in very different modalities ( Rahelah works in ceramics, but also installations and photography, and Linda works in glass casting and glass paste, and also printmaking) ) and they come from very different cultures, but both focus on women's concerns. They will share some of the work they are doing individually, and also a project they are working on together. They asked themselves "how our relation will change if there is a war between Israel and Iran", and say "because of that, we decided to do a collaborative project to send a message of peace."

Both artists had their work on display at the recent "Continuum "exhibition at the Cultural Council of Palm Beach County.

We'd also like to spend some time at the Salon talking about career development - opportunities, resources, and steps we can each take to get our art seen by a wider audience.
