LESLIE ALBERT

''"COLLAGE AND THE CREATIVE PROCESS" ''

The origins of ‘collage’ may extend to back to 200 AD when paper was invented, but it has been used throughout almost all periods of art history by myriad of artists. Collage is an art form in and of itself, but it can also be a ‘laboratory of ideas’ an experimental form encompassing a wide variety of media. Its improvisational character provokes visual surprise, chance events and intuitive responses.

Collage can sharpen formal skills in composition, color and shape while expanding our individual and creative preferences. For artists working in all mediums, collage can provide the path towards unblocking creativity and exploring other aesthetics in an informal manner.

Leslie Albert obtained her undergraduate degree from Stanford University studying with renowned artists Nathan Oliveira and Frank Lobdell. She studied in Italy with Luciano Guarnieri – one of the last true fresco painters, and completed her post baccalaureate work at the University of Miami. She is known for her strong emphasis on graphic drawing skills and large scale figurative works. She exhibits her work locally and nationally, and is a Professor of Art at Palm Beach State College, as well as on the faculty at the Armory Art Center.

She is also an award winning interior designer specializing in interior architecture for commercial and residential projects throughout South Florida and the Caribbean.
