Amy Broderick's creative practice encompasses studio production, art writing, excellence in teaching, and academic leadership. She uses the processes of drawing and paper construction to explore the methods we humans use to locate ourselves relative to our physical and information environments. Amy teaches her students to do what all scholars (and responsible citizens) do: engage passionately with the world and with their field; devour new knowledge, influences, and inspiration; integrate and own all of these, weaving them into their scholarly selves; and then articulate their knowledge, passions, and questions through sincere, honest, researched, and elegant original works.

Amy earned her BA in Studio Art at the College of William and Mary, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa. She earned her MFA in Painting at the Hoffberger School of Painting at the Maryland Institute College of Art, where she studied with Grace Hartigan. In 2000, Amy joined the faculty at Florida Atlantic University as Assistant Professor of Art in the Wilkes Honors College. She was the first fine artist on the new college’s faculty. Over the course of four years, Amy developed and implemented a fine arts curriculum and concentration within the Honors College’s interdisciplinary liberal arts curriculum. She was then invited to lead the redevelopment of the foundations curriculum in FAU’s School of the Arts, where she earned tenure and now serves as Associate Professor of Drawing and Painting and Foundations Program Coordinator.

Amy has won numerous awards for teaching and scholarly activity, including the Award for Excellence and Innovation in Undergraduate Teaching (FAU), Master Teacher Award (FAU), Honors Faculty Fellowship (FAU), Florida Individual Artist Fellowship, and South Florida Cultural Consortium Fellowship for Visual and Media Artists. She was recently awarded an Emerging Arts Administrator Fellowship by the National Council of Arts Administrators (NCAA). Amy has exhibited extensively at venues that include Miami Art Museum, Jacksonville Museum of Contemporary Art, Sarratt Gallery at Vanderbilt University, School 33 in Baltimore, and Tomio Koyama Gallery in Tokyo, Japan. She has also published scholarly articles and exhibition reviews in SECAC Review, FATE in Review, and the Palm Beach ArtsPaper.

Amy serves on the Board of Directors of the Southeast College Art Conference as the board's Florida representative. She also serves on the Alumni Council of the Maryland Institute College of Art, and she represents Miami and Palm Beach on the council's Regional Initiatives Committee. Amy lives in Jupiter, Florida with her husband, Mark, and their sons.
